Things are moving: generational mobility of income in Italy

A study based on the tax declarations of parents in the 1990s, and subsequently those of their children, reveals a reasonable level of generational mobility, but enormous geographical differences between various areas of the country. We will reflect on the possible causes of these differences and discuss the “ideal” level of economic and social mobility.
