Andrea Brandolini

Joining the Research Department of the Banca d’Italia in 1992, from 2007 to 2012 he was head of the Economic Structure and Labour Market Division. Since June 2015 he has been head of the Statistical Analysis Directorate. He represented the Bank of Italy in government commissions investigating poverty and the ministerial working group on minimum income. He chaired the Istat research committee on methods for estimating absolute poverty. He has been a member of the World Bank Commission on Global Poverty and President of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW). He is one of the founders of the demographic information web site He has published numerous papers on poverty, the distribution of wealth and measuring wellbeing. Together with S.P. Jenkins, J. Micklewright and B. Nolan he edited the book The Great Recession and the Distribution of Household Income, Oxford University Press (2013). He also edited two reports issued by the Fondazione Gorrieri: Povertà e benessere. Una geografia delle disuguaglianze in Italia (with C. Saraceno), Il Mulino (2007), and Dimensioni della disuguaglianza in Italia: povertà, salute, abitazione (with C. Saraceno and A. Schizzerotto), Il Mulino (2009).
